ExSyM - Process Scheme and Performance

A process flow diagram for the conceptual process is shown below. A fired heater, fueled by the process off-gas, heats the feed to the reactor. A feed-effluent exchanger cools the effluent, which is condensed and settled to remove the water product. The organic phase is then sent to the distillation train to produce purified SM and recover the excess toluene.


Based on bench-scale testing, the following process parameters are expected.
