Exelus' management team consists of a powerful blend of globally recognized technical experts and experienced business managers.
Mitrajit Mukherjee is the founder and president of Exelus. He has spent much of his 25-year career developing breakthrough technologies for the production of clean fuels and chemicals. Mukherjee is the inventor of the recently commercialized ExSact solid-acid alkylation process (being licensed world-wide by KBR as the K-SAAT process), and ExSyM, a new process which produces styrene monomer from toluene and methanol. He is currently developing step-out processes to monetize natural gas and biomass to produce commodity chemicals and ultra-clean fuels. Mukherjee founded Exelus following a six year tenure as a program manager at Lummus and five years as an engineering fellow at Catalytica .
Sankaran Sundaresan, PhD: Director of R&D and professor of Chemical Engineering at Princeton University. He has over 20 years of teaching and research experience in the field of reaction engineering. He is well known for his contributions to the field of oxidation catalysis, steady state and dynamic performance of chemical reactors, and hydrodynamic characteristics of single and multiphase flows arising in chemical reactors. He has over 100 publications in the area of chemical reaction engineering and holds four patents on oxidation catalysts. He has 15 years of experience as a consultant for various companies.
Thomas Hickey is Director of Business Development for Exelus. With over 40 years of experience in technology development, marketing and licensing of petrochemical and refining technologies worldwide, he has been involved in the commercialization of many first of a kind technologies. Previous experience includes 30 years with Lummus Technology (VP Technology & Deputy Managing Director:CDTech), 7 years with Velocys (President & Marketing Director) and 5 years in private consulting. He holds twelve patents covering technologies involving membranes, catalytic distillation and microchannel reactors.
