A major hurdle to commercialization of biofuels and chemicals is their high cost in comparison to petroleum-based processes. Our approach is to transition gradually from petroleum-based technologies to bio-based technologies. This "middle of the road" approach allows us to mitigate GHG emissions for conventional processes using innovative catalyst technologies while developing breakthrough technologies to transform renewable feedstocks to transportation fuels and commodity chemicals.
